Wan Qian Visits Chunhui Care Home: A Shared Moment of Childhood, A Warm Lunar New Year

The Spring Festival is a time when lights twinkle in every home and families reunite in laughter and joy. Yet at Chunhui Care Home, a group of orphaned children with specical needs, transferred from child welfare institutions across the country to Beijing for seek medical treatment, are spending the holiday with the loving Chunhui mamas. Though they may have lost their biological families, here, a warm and loving “home” stands ready to embrace and protect them. This year, Chunhui Children’s ambassador of love, actress Wan Qian, arrived as promisedexpected, bringing festive cheer and heartfelt warmth to this special big family.

On the eve of the Spring Festival, Wan Qian arrived at Chunhui Care Home in Beijing with a bright smile. “I’m back!” she called out, her voice filled with affection and joy. Chunhui Children’s Secretary-General Liu Shan shared with her the many moments and milestones of the foundation’s work over the past year. When they watched the documentary Where the Light Enters, one line from a child in the film deeply moved Wan Qian: “I’m sorry my home’s floor made your shoes dirty.” Like a gentle tap of a small hammer, the words struck a chord in her heart, and tears welled up in her eyes. A child who should have been carefree and playful instead tiptoed through life, afraid of being disliked or rejected.

The walls were covered with photographs of the children, each one radiating innocence and hope. Their bright eyes and beaming smiles were like warm sunlight in winter, dispelling the cold and shadows. Together, Wan Qian and the children made paper cuttings and window decorations. The room was filled with joyful decorations—bright red “Fu” characters, delicate window flowers, and strings of red lanterns shimmering in the sunlight. The entire home was enveloped in a rich festive atmosphere, as if the scent of celebration was already in the air.

Later, everyone gathered in the main hall to make dumplings. The children eagerly kneaded dough, rolled out wrappers, and added fillings. Though their skills were unpolished, they were so focused that they all made lovely dumplings. Wan Qian joined in, asking the children how to properly make dumplings, prompting giggles and laughter. In that cheerful, cozy scene, it felt like a big, bustling typical family preparing their New Year’s Eve dinner—full of joy and warmth. Before long, steaming dumplings were served. Their delicious aroma filled the room. Everyone sat around the table, enjoying their own creations, their faces glowing with happiness—smiles as radiant as blooming flowers under the light.

As the visit came to an end, Wan Qian reflected emotionally: “The last time I stood in front of this photo wall was over a year ago. Standing here again today, I see many new faces. I think this proves what ‘Chunhui Children’ and ‘universal love’ truly mean—offering love unreservedly to these children. What Chunhui Mamas do is truly great. In the new year, 2025, I hope the Chunhui Mamas find happiness and joy. I hope our dear babies stay healthy and that they can have an even brighter future.”

Her heartfelt wishes echo the hopes of us. May every hope become a guiding light that brightens the path ahead for these children. Together with Chunhui Children’s ambassador of love, Wan Qian, let us continue creating warmth and hope for these children—so that their future, like this Spring Festival, may be filled with light and joy, with stars shimmering across their sky, brilliant and beautiful.
