Up till now, Chunhui Children has rolled out three massive evaluations in Guizhou and Jiangxi provinces, reaching almost ten hundreds of children in total. After each evaluation, Chunhui’s expert team produced a professional detailed report, reflected on problems arising from the evaluation, and perfected the evaluation checklists.

Time and targets of evaluation

Starting from Nov 6 to Nov 13, Ganzhou evaluation covered 300 family-based orphaned children and de facto unattended children in 12 counties. These children, mostly elementary and middle school students, were randomly chosen from 2000 or so children. Through quantitative and qualitative studies, the evaluation helped identify the children’s psychological wellbeing and life quality.  .

What and who were evaluated?

The evaluation team paid home visits, made interviews with caregivers, and checked policy documents.

Three types of checklists were used. They helped understand the social-emotional skills, temperament, and thinking ability of children. Home visits provided an insight into the living environment and caregivers’ abilities to support their children. Additionally, with support of the county-level civil affairs administrations, the evaluation team checked on applicable policy documentation and implementation.
